Children and Youth Mentor-Coach

5 Peaks Youth Solutions is seeking part-time and full-time Mentor-Coaches to join our team. This role focuses on offering prevention and early intervention services through group and one-to-one support of elementary, middle, and high school students. Mentor-Coaches provide co-facilitation of social-emotional development groups for 3rd-5th grade and 6th-12th grade students on school campuses, during regular school or afterschool hours. The position also involves engaging with youth through one-to-one mentoring and referring students to higher levels of care when necessary. Mentor-Coaching is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in supporting the social-emotional well-being of youth through a paraprofessional role.

Starting hourly rate: $19-21

1. Program Implementation:

Deliver Five Peaks Youth Solutions’ structured interventions to students in small group settings. These groups focus on:

  • Social-emotional and cognitive development
  • Building group cohesion and belonging
  • Learning Life Skills competencies and coping techniques
2. Student Assessments:
  • Assist youth in completing self-reported surveys that are used to indicate focus-points for growth and provide improvement data
  • Completing observational reports on student’s development and group participation
  • Reporting concerns to school staff for follow up with higher levels of care
3. Emotional Support and Goal Setting:
  • Conduct brief check-ins to offer emotional support and follow up on student wellness, goal setting, and application of life skills
  • Assist individuals in setting and achieving goals related to behavioral health, stress management, and overall well-being.
4. Crisis Response and Referral:
  • Respond to crisis situations following standardized protocols, identifying risks and referring youth to on-site behavioral health providers as needed.
  • Provide emotional support and facilitate warm handoffs to ensure continuity of care for youth awaiting crisis services.
