The Certified Wellness Coach (CWC) role is a newly established position created to expand California’s capacity to meet the growing behavioral health needs of children and youth. As part of the state’s Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), this role is designed to build a larger, more diverse, and representative behavioral health workforce equipped with the training and supervision necessary to engage directly with young people where they live, learn, and grow. Working under the supervision of a licensed professional, Wellness Coaches provide non-clinical support services that promote mental wellness and early intervention. This workforce of trained paraprofessionals provide timely, consistent, on-the-ground support to youth. At 5 Peaks Youth Solutions, we provide innovative, school-based solutions through on-campus Certified Wellness Coaches who deliver individualized and group support throughout the school day. These coaches serve as on-campus promoters, coordinators, and trusted resources for student social, emotional, and mental well-being.
Core Services provided by Wellness Coaches include: Wellness promotion and education, Screening, Care coordination and extension, Individual support, Group support, and Crisis referral.
Trained, trauma-informed coaches working on campuses across our region every day.
We care deeply about the quality of services our CWC staff offer to schools so we train them in:
Our Trauma-Informed, State Certified Wellness Coaches work collaboratively with school counselors and Mental Health staff, significantly expanding the capacity of existing student support services.
Our Certified Wellness Coaches operate on campus full-day or multiple days per week, ensuring continuous, real-time support for students in need.
By leading psychoeducation groups, facilitating peer leadership, and working with students individually, our coaches provide ongoing guidance and accountability, reinforcing positive behavior and personal growth.
Rather than waiting for students to seek help, our coaches engage with socially isolated students, support struggling youth through facilitating mental health progress plans and networking student needs to the highest level of care available on campus.
Our solutions-focused coaching method empowers students to take measurable action steps toward their academic and personal goals, while learning resilience and personal responsibility.
