The 13 videos in this series cover the core principles of coaching and some of the structural information that is necessary for you to know in order to facilitate EYS groups. It also provides information on what you need to do in following the program requirements in terms of data reporting and student interaction guidelines. We’ve also provided 5 demo videos covering each segment of the group process. 2 additional demos are also available for you to see a one-on-one coaching interaction with a teen and an adult.
After completing this online training, you will be scheduled to attend a virtual or live-event training that will allow the time you need to practice your coaching skills.
Some of you will want to skim over this content and get right to the practice of coaching, but please resist that desire and really settle in to learn what is being communicated in these videos. The longest of them is 49 minutes, most of them are around 30 minutes and a few are as short as 13 minutes. Please take your time.
As you begin section 4 you will be prompted to complete a form asking 3 questions related to two anchor-points found in the last half of your training manual. (They are the same questions asked in the manual at the conclusion of each anchor-point.) These are the only assignments you are asked to do in this online course. We didn’t want to waste your time asking simple review questions. By asking you to complete the anchor-point questions we are encouraging your familiarity with them which will prove to be invaluable as you interact with students in coaching groups.
In most cases the video section title will align with the chapter in your training manual so you can go to that section and follow along. Other sections will relate to material that has been provided in your binder.
You will find a PDF in the right side panel that lists the video sections and points you to the place where you can find the corresponding printed content. It may be helpful to print off that document and keep it handy as you move through each section. Newer versions of the binders may already have this document in the “Coach Resources” tab, so you might check there first.
I’m so happy that you are joining us in this intervention program. Let’s get started!
